The U.S. Navy in San Diego received its own batch of vaccines. Doses will be doled out starting today. NBC 7 s Nicole Gomez reports.
At 7:14 a.m. Tuesday, UC San Diego Health received its first shipment of 2,925 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for COVID-19.
It was a moment about 10 months in the making – and one that Millen would never forget.
“Honestly, for me, I’m tearing up right now,” Dr. Marlene Millen, MD, of UC San Diego Health, told NBC 7. “It’s a very emotional moment.”

Region announces distribution task force for COVID-19 vaccine
There are 14 members from several local agencies

The Region of Waterloo has formed a COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force, which will be led by Deputy Chief Shirley Hilton with Waterloo Regional Police.
It will also be comprised of members of several agencies - including our local hospitals, public health, and both paramedic and fire services.
A release from officials said, The task force will ensure an efficient, equitable plan is in place for delivery of the immunization program.
The details were announced on Friday, ahead of Premier Doug Ford s news conference. He released details on the province s COVID-19 vaccine roll-out plan.
KITCHENER Waterloo region s deputy police chief will lead the region s COVID-19 vaccination distribution, the region announced on Friday morning.
According to a news release, deputy Chief Shirley Hilton will lead a task force to ensure an efficient, equitable plan is in place for delivery of the immunization program. We continue to see COVID-19 circulate throughout our community and the creation of this task force is a major milestone in the fight against the virus, said Regional Chair Karen Redman in the release. Public health officials have not said when they expect to receive doses of the vaccine locally, but Chief Administrative Officer Bruce Lauckner said the region has been told to get ready. He said the region is now working in terms of days and weeks, rather than months and years.
