The town of Vailankanni in India is a small fishing village off the central east coast. Three major Marian events took place in Vailankanni, two in the 16th century, and one near the Bay of Bengal, in the 17th century.
Though there is no historical document or record about the reputed apparitions of Mary at Vailankanni, oral tradition has passed down the story of two Marian apparitions at Vailankanni in the 16th century and the saving of Portuguese sailors from a storm in the Bay of Bengal in the 17th century.
According to tradition, the first apparition is said to have occurred to a young boy delivering buttermilk to a man who lived far away. During his travels, the boy stopped to rest beside a lake that was shaded by a Banyan tree. A beautiful woman, carrying a child, is said to have appeared, and asked the boy for some milk to feed her child, which he gave. When he reached the home for his milk delivery, he apologized for the delay and that there would be less milk in h

Fatima
Fatima is a village in the very center of Portugal, about 70 miles north of Lisbon. It consists of several little hamlets hidden away in the elevation known as Serra de Aire. One such hamlet is known as Aljustrel; and it is here, and more especially in the surrounding rocky pasturelands, that our story is centered.
The Children of Fatima
The eldest of the three children to whom Our Lady was to appear at Fatima was Lucia de Jesus dos Santos. Francisco and Jacinta, the other two main figures, were Lucia’s first cousins, the eighth and ninth children, respectively.
The origins
In Algiers Lalla Myriam or Madam Africa is the name you are likely to hear the Virgin Mary the Mother of Jesus called by. The Basilica of the Our Lady of Africa is dedicated to this Virgin Mary the Mother of Jesus. Right from the beginning this basilica has been a place of prayer and pilgrimage. From the outside you will notice the basilica is built in a Byzantine style with an influence of Spanish-Moorish architecture inside. Two women, Marguerite Berger and Agarithe Cinqin are credited for their tenacity and faith in making sure that this basilica is built. The bishop at the time of construction was Bishop Pavy (1846-1866) and it is to this bishop that the two women went to convince him to built the basilica. The Architecture for the Basilica was a French man Jean Eugine Fromageau.
