Newspapers Review: Measures, including demolition, by Israeli occupation highlight of dailies
RAMALLAH, Tuesday, January 26, 2021 (WAFA) – Ongoing Israeli measures in the occupied territories targeting Palestinians and their properties were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
Al-Quds daily said that while Israeli occupation forces razed land and settlers uprooted dozens of trees, two houses and structures were also demolished by the forces as demolition orders were issued against a residential building, a village council, a clinic, and several other dwellings.
It said five new settlement plans are going to eat up over 650 dunums of Palestinian land in the two northern West Bank districts of Salfit and Qalqilya.
France stresses need to respect Palestinian people’s inalienable rights
NEW YORK, Tuesday, January 26, 2021 (WAFA) – France Tuesday evening stressed the need to respect the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights in any solution to the Palestinian question.
“The two-state solution has been defined with the aim of bringing a just and lasting peace to the region. It is the only one likely to ensure the security of Israel, with which France will never compromise, and to respect the rights of the Palestinians, which are inalienable,” France Representative to United Nations Nicolas de Rivière stated.
“The parameters for the resolution of the conflict are known: two States, living in peace and security, within secure and recognized borders based on the 1967 lines, both with Jerusalem as their capital,” he added.
Newspapers review: Settler attacks, Strikes on Gaza focus of dailies
RAMALLAH, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 (WAFA) – The ongoing Israeli settler attacks against the Palestinian people and their property besides to the Israeli bombardment of Gaza dominated the front page headlines in the dailies.
The dailies reported that Israeli settlers uprooted some 100 olive trees near Yatta town, south of the southern West Bank city of Hebron.
The dailies said that the Israeli occupation artillery pounded several locations in the northern and eastern besieged Gaza Strip purportedly after a rocket from the enclave hit southern Israel.
Al-Quds said that Israeli forces shot four Palestinians near the section of Israel’s illegal annexation wall, north of Qalqilia city. According to al-Ayyam, three Palestinians were injured.
