LAHORE: After getting bail from the Lahore High Court (LHC) in a money laundering and assets in excess of income case, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) President and Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif was released from Kot Lakhpat Jail here on Friday.
Despite strict orders of the party’s high command, a large number of party leaders and workers reached outside the jail as well as Shahbaz Sharif’s Model Town residence for the reception of their leader. The PML-N workers showered flower petals on Shahbaz Sharif s car and chanted slogans in his favour and took him to his residence in a procession.

ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist and former chairman of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Absar Alam was shot in Islamabad outside his residence on Tuesday.
Absar Alam received a bullet in his ribs damaging his liver, the hospital sources disclosed when contacted. He was shifted to hospital where bullet has been removed from his body. The assailant managed to escape after the shootout. Police have taken up the case and started efforts to hunt down the shooter.
Sarfaraz, a family member of Absar Alam, told The News that the bullet damaged his liver, however, his condition is out of danger.

A case of firing on senior journalist Absar Alam has been registered in Shalimar police station.
According to police officials, a case has been registered and an attempted murder charge has been included in the FIR.
Journalist bodies have condemned the incident.
ISLAMABAD: Shalimar Police has registered a case against unidentified men for firing on senior journalist and former chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Authority (PEMRA) Absar Alam, Geo News reported on Wednesday.
According to details, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation along with the team inspected the crime scene while the video of CCTV cameras installed in the area is also being obtained for further investigation.
