GVB aims for April tourism opening, airlines and quarantine remain unclear As the Guam Visitors Bureau eyes opening tourism in April, continued airline suspensions and countries quarantine requirements blur the possibility of incoming travelers any time soon. As of this month, just United Airlines, Philippine Airlines and Jin Air are operating limited flights on Guam, according to Rolenda Faasumalie, airport spokesperson.  All other airlines suspended operations through March. Japan Airlines announced that its suspension is through the end of April. Airlines have extended suspensions month by month for almost a year now.  No airline has indicated yet that it will resume in April, Faasumalie said.

February 5, 2021 : By Office of Communications & Public Engagement The Executive Committee of Liberty University’s Board of Trustees met on Wednesday to send a strong, public message of confidence and support of President Jerry Prevo. In a formal resolution, which was sent to all Liberty faculty, staff, and students on Friday, the members expressed to the campus community that “even though we are in a transitional period of leadership,  Jerry Prevo has the full authority to manage the university as its chief executive officer.” The committee also clarified that he may be referred to simply as President and/or CEO. Since August, the Board of Trustees and its Executive Committee have renewed their focus on Christian leadership, taking many necessary steps to put a strong leader in place who will affirm the university’s spiritual mission on multiple fronts and use his full authority to work in the best interest of the university.

New Research: Global Pandemic Brings Surge Of New And Experienced Retail Investors Into The Stock Market Date 02/02/2021 In a year when a pandemic gripped the world, beginning and experienced retail investors flocked to the stock market using taxable, non-retirement investment accounts, according to new research by the FINRA Investor Education Foundation (FINRA Foundation) and NORC at the University of Chicago. The study, Investing 2020: New Accounts and the People Who Opened Them, found that market dips that made stocks cheaper to buy and the ability to invest with small amounts were among the top reasons younger and inexperienced investors reported entering the stock market. For respondents who opened new accounts in 2020, investing for retirement was the most frequently cited reason for opening the account, despite the study’s focus on taxable investing.

NCPA remembers Lonnie Hollingsworth

NCPA January 27, 2021 Lonnie Hollingsworth, president of the National Association of Retail Druggists (now NCPA) in 1986-87, passed away Jan. 18 in Lubbock, Texas. He went on to serve as treasurer of the NCPA Foundation Board. Hollingsworth, 88, also served as president of the Texas Pharmacy Association and the West Texas Pharmacists Association, which he helped found. He was named Texas Pharmacist of the year in 1981 and 2001 and served as chairman of the Dean s Advisory Council for the University of Texas School of Pharmacy and served on the Dean s Advisory Council for the Texas Tech University School of Pharmacy. Hollingsworth won the NCPA Foundation’s prestigious John W. Dargavel Medal in 2007. He was a remarkable person, a self-made man who worked his way through college and was valedictorian of his class.
