Teachers in Montgomery County vote ‘no confidence’ in reopening plan Donna St. George Montgomery County teachers voted “no confidence” in their school system’s plan for reopening in March, demanding that employees get the chance to be vaccinated first and pushing for more staffing, and a “coherent” contact tracing and testing program. The vote followed an emergency meeting Monday of the representative assembly of the Montgomery County Education Association, which represents teachers and other educators in Maryland’s largest school system. More than 1,000 members attended, an unprecedented number, said the union’s president, Christopher Lloyd. Ballots were cast the next day by more than 200 of the union’s elected worksite representatives

In recognition of Black History Month, Princeton University will host virtual conversations, classes, exhibits and educational resources that recognize the lives and achievements of Black people in the context of Princeton’s and the country’s history. While many events were held earlier this month, the following is a list of Black history-related programs still to come. All events will take place virtually. University of Evansville Announces New Plans for Music Department

Some very exciting news from the University of Evansville, as they announce a plan to not only keep the music department, but to also make changes that will benefit UE students and the Evansville community. You might remember that the music department was on the verge of being eliminated as part of a ‘realignment plan’ in late 2020. But now, thanks to the efforts of Department of Music co-chairs, faculty, Friends of UE Music, community partnerships, private donors, trustees, and the administration, the music department is here to stay. University President Christopher M. Pietruszkiewicz says, We are delighted that our faculty and the community came together to preserve our rich tradition of music at UE. They not only have made the department financially viable, but also have reimagined our program in a way that will benefit our campus and local community.
