Nadda convoy attack case: MHA issues Central deputation orders to 3 West Bengal IPS officers, gives them new postings

Updated: Dec 17, 2020, 04:14 PM IST The Union Home Ministry on Thursday (December 17, 2020) has issued Central deputation orders for the three West Bengal IPS officers who were on duty when BJP chief JP Nadda s convoy was attacked. The three police officers of West Bengal have been issued Central postings on charges of negligence. The Ministry of Home Affairs took action against the trio under IPS Cadre Rule 6 (1). As per the latest decision, Bholanath Pandey has been posted as SP in Bureau of Police Research and Development for four years, Praveen Tripathi sent to the post of DIG in Sashastra Seema Bal for five years and Rajeev Mishra will be posted as IG in Indo-Tibetan Border Police for five years.

URL copied   TMC has dared the BJP-led government at the Centre to impose President s rule in West Bengal where Assembly elections are due next year.   The tussle between the West Bengal government under Mamata Banerjee and the Centre peaked on Thursday with the ruling Trinamool Congress daring the Modi government to impose President s rule in the state.  The sharp reaction by the Trinamool Congress was in response of the Centre s decision to send three IPS officers currently statione in Bengal on deputation.  The three officers are Rajib Mishra (ADG, SouthBengal), Praveen Tripathi (DIG, Presidency Range) and Bholanath Pandey (SP, Diamond Harbour), have sent on deputation to ITBP, Seema Suraksha Bal and Police Research Bureau respectively.  The decision came days after BJP chief JP Nadda s convoy was attacked on its way to Diamond Harbour on December 10.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has written a letter to the West Bengal Police chief over the attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda s convoy in Diamond Harbour. Sources on Thursday told Zee News that the letter gives details about the lapses made by the local police when Nadda was attacked. The CRPF has asked West Bengal Police for co-operation ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah s visit to the state. CRPF had asked local police to make proper arrangements for such protectees. Shah is scheduled to visit West Bengal on December 19-20.
