A nine-year-old girl was among five people killed in three separate vehicle crashes in North Iowa in recent days.
The Iowa State Patrol says a two-vehicle wreck about 2:30 p.m. Friday on Highway 150 just south of West Union claimed the lives of 65-year-old Terri Westfall and 18-year-old Ashleigh Rensing, both of North Liberty, and 9-year-old Alli Olson of Amana. Westfall was driving north, crossed the centerline, and collided head-on with a southbound semi driven by 37-year-old Lamothe Guito of Orlando, Florida. Another passenger in the Westfall vehicle, 18-year-old Seth Olson of Amana was injured in the accident. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the West Union Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Waterloo Man Charged in Accident with Waverly Woman
The Bremer County Sheriff has released more information on a 2-vehicle accident near Denver that sent a Waverly woman to the hospital.
It happened Thursday (May 20th) at about 5:15pm, at the intersection of Midway Avenue and 250th Street, just northeast of Denver.
An investigation by the Bremer County Sheriff determined that a pickup driven by 32 year old Joshua Meinert of Waterloo, broadsided an SUV driven by 19 year old Emily Saathoff of Waverly.

Saathoff was taken to Allen Hospital in Waterloo for treatment. Meinert was not injured.

A 19-year-old female was injured in a two-vehicle wreck late Thursday afternoon in north Iowa.
The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office says the collision occurred at about 5:15 p.m. just northeast of Denver near the intersection of Midway Avenue and 250th Street. A Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Emily Saathoff of Waverly was broadsided by a Ford F-250 pickup driven 32-year-old Joshua Meinert of Waterloo.
Saathoff was taken by Denver Ambulance to Allen Hospital in Waterloo for treatment of her injuries. She was charged with driving while license suspended and failure to wear her seatbelt. Meinert was charged with failure to yield right of way.
Bremer Sheriff Nabs Car Thief From Minnesota
Bremer County authorities have arrested a Louisiana man for allegedly stealing a truck from Minnesota.
At about 4pm Sunday (May 16), the Bremer County Sheriff s Office pulled over a pickup in the 1900 block of Highway 63 near Denver. The 2012 GMC Sierra pickup had been reported stolen on May 2nd, from Brooklyn Center, Minnesota.
The driver, 58 year old Joseph Bellvie of New Orleans, was arrested without any further incident.

Bellvie is being charged with 1st Degree Theft, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Driving While Suspended.
He is being held in the Bremer County jail in Waverly on $5,000 bond.

A Louisiana man accused of stealing a pickup in Minnesota has been arrested in northern Iowa.
The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office took 58-year-old Joseph Bellvie of New Orleans into custody without incident Sunday around 4 p.m., about eight miles northeast of Waverly, in the 1900 block of U.S.Highway 63. Bellvie was stopped while he was driving a pickup reported stolen in Brooklyn Center on May 2nd.
He’s been charged with first-degree theft, drug possession, and driving with a suspended license. The Denver Police Department assisted with Bellvie’s arrest.
