Breckenridge Grand Vacations’ proposed development on the North Gondola and Gold Rush lots was presented to the Breckenridge Planning Commission at a preliminary hearing Tuesday, and though a few concerns were raised, commissioners had overall positive comments for the project.
Despite being in the early stages of the town planning process, the proposed development has been a hot topic in Breckenridge, inspiring letters to the editor and being referenced in Breckenridge Town Council meetings. But before the project can move forward, it first has to get a thumbs up from the planning commission. Then Town Council can agree with the planning commission’s decision or have its own hearing if there are concerns.
Breckenridge Grand Vacations has submitted a master plan application to the town of Breckenridge to develop the North Gondola and Gold Rush lots. Included in this plan are a hotel and condos in the North Gondola Lot, condos in the South Gold Rush Lot and a large 1,040 space parking structure in the North Gold Rush Lot. The plans also include erecting a new connecting gondola on top of the parking structure to transport people over Park Avenue to and from the main gondola base. A roundabout with four pedestrian crosswalks is planned for the intersection of Park Avenue and French Street.

Breckenridge Town Council on Tuesday struck down an emergency ordinance intended to regulate amenity clubs.
The subject has been a topic of Town Council meetings for nearly a year, and while it seemed an agreement was reached at the last council work session, five council members voted “no” on a proposed amenity club ordinance at Tuesday’s council meeting after a lengthy public comment from Breckenridge Grand Vacations opposing the ordinance. While two council members stated that they didn’t agree with much of the comment, council members said they wanted to take more time to adopt an ordinance.
