Several roads near Grizzly Peak and Lake Merritt in Oakland will be closed during the Fourth of July holiday to reduce crowding and to allow emergency vehicles easier access to fire hazard zones in case flames spark from fireworks, according to the city’s fire department.
Grizzly Peak Boulevard between Skyline Boulevard and Centennial Drive will be closed to all automobile traffic from Sunday at 5 a.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. in response to concerns about fire safety and emergency vehicle access during the celebrations, city officials said.
