The endless wintry showers left the likes of Dundee and Perth buried under huge drifts of snow, bringing gridlock and crashes. Heavy snowfall of up to 10in left many roads impassable with motorists attempting to brave the conditions later forced to abandon vehicles.

Sign Up A rural Perthshire road has been closed off, after part of the carriageway collapsed. A section of Precinct Street and Pleasance Road, leading out of Coupar Angus, caved in after heavy flooding. The impacted area has been fenced off, while crews wait for better weather to begin repairs. It was one of three roads in Perth and Kinross which were forced to close because of fierce weather conditions.

© Supplied by Ralph Davidson Heavy snowfall caused havoc for motorists – and delight for sledgers – across Tayside and Fife on Monday, with forecasters warning more wintry weather is on the way. Families took to hills across Dundee, Perth and Angus to make the most of the conditions after the local area was hit by relentless snow showers. In Perth and Kinross, Precinct Street, leading out of Coupar Angus, had to be sealed off due to subsidence. Council crews are investigating. It was one of three roads in Perth and Kinross which were forced to close because of weather conditions. The A93 at Glenshee and the C446 Tullymurdoch Road, between Alyth and Blackwater, were also shut on Monday morning.
