NEW DELHI: After being closed for nearly 10 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic, schools in Delhi are set to reopen from Monday for students of Classes 10 and 12. However, parents are still in a quandary whether to allow their wards to attend.
The Delhi government has decided to reopen schools, shut since the first 21 day nationwide lockdown was imposed in March, 2020, in the view of the upcoming CBSE board exams.
Schools that reopen will have to follow the standard operating procedures (SOP) issued in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, including social distancing, compulsory mask wearing and sanitisation and others.

Accused wanted police protection to get rid of creditors
A builder, along with an accomplice, allegedly hatched a conspiracy to mislead investigators by registering a false complaint of extortion to gain police protection and get rid of creditors, officials said on Friday.
One of the accused, Ashok Yadav (37), who works as a POP contractor for the builder, has been arrested, they added.
Raids were conducted, following which the 40-year-old builder, identified as Gaurav Jain, was arrested on Friday. He cooked up a story and filed a false complaint at Preet Vihar police station in a bid to get rid of his creditors, a police officer said.

The BJP on Wednesday accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of supplying “poison” in the name of potable water to residents. It alleged that water supply in several areas had been stagnant for months and dirty water from drains was being provided.
Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta and Leader of the Opposition Ramvir Singh Bidhuri termed it “very unfortunate” that Mr. Kejriwal himself was “drinking the RO water from a Japanese company” while forcing people to drink “poisonous water containing ammonia.”
“It cannot be more surprising that Delhiites are facing water shortage even in winter. There are areas like Preet Vihar, Mayur Vihar and Vasant Vihar where dirty water is coming from the pipe while there is no supply of water from tankers in Seemapuri, Nand Nagri, Patel Nagar, Kondli, Madan Giri, Mangolpuri, Najafgarh and rural areas,” Mr. Gupta alleged.

The Central Board of Secondary education has previously conducted the class 10th and 12th board examination in the month of March and April. While the class 10th examination has taken place from 9th March to 10th April.
According to the board s latest declaration the much awaited results for cbse class 10 will be announced on June 2.
