SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. â Keith McCants was supposed to be the next big football star as the first-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1990. But during his short career, he struggled physically. Thatâs me praying to God, to help my knee, said McCants, pointing to a picture of himself praying on the field while wearing a knee brace.
McCants, now 52, says his injuries led to pain pills, which led to addiction, which led to prison.

ATLANTA (AP) â Georgia could make it a felony with mandatory prison time for people who steal a single package off someoneâs porch or front step, no matter the value.
The House voted 101-67 on Wednesday to approve House Bill 94, which creates a specific crime of porch piracy. The bill also makes it a felony to steal at least 10 pieces of mail from three different addresses or mailboxes.

CLEVELAND â A convicted serial rapist who is already serving a 48-year prison term for multiple rapes in Cleveland, pleaded guilty to two cold case sexual assaults in December 2006 and March 2007, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael OâMalley said Tuesday.
Ronald Wheeler, 48, who is already serving a 48-year prison term for other stranger rapes, was sentenced to 20 additional years in prison. He pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and one count of kidnapping.
