Irish Prison Service responds to prison officers action over Covid-19 vaccination

The Irish Prison Service says it is working closely with staff in Portlaoise and other jails to manage Covid-19 and is engaged with the Government on the order of vaccination.
The IPS issued a statement in response to the withdrawal of goodwill by prison officers this week in protest at the vaccination rollout. The management of the Irish Prison Service has worked closely with all staff, and in close collaboration with the Prison Officers Association, to successfully manage the unique challenges posed by Covid-19 in the prison system.

Simon Harris said the resumption of retail will be considered
Minister for Further and Higher Education Simon Harris said he hopes that when the Government meets next week to consider the easing of restrictions, it will try to provide as much clarity as it can, not just for May, but for June and July.
Speaking on RTÉ s News at One, he said the resumption of retail, personal services such as barbers and hairdressers, as well as the rest of the construction industry will be looked at first and safe resumption of religious services will also be examined in this context.
