Right in the centre - Until May 26, you say?

Neepawa Banner & Press Before I go any further, let me say that it looks like I made a mistake in my column two weeks ago, writing about the number of deaths due to all causes in 2019 versus 2020. I quoted the figures accurately, but it was pointed out to me that the stats are reported from July 1 to June 30 so the 2020 figures I wrote about didn’t show the actual deaths for July 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2020. In other words, COVID-19 may have raised the actual number of death by more than the 120 or so it appeared to be. We won’t know until the stats are totalled.

Manitoba looking to help Ontario and its climbing COVID-19 cases

WINNIPEG With a record-breaking 4,812 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Friday, the Ontario government has turned to other provinces for help with health-care resources. In order to meet the anticipated demands following the peak of Ontario’s third wave, we are seeking the assistance of 620 professionals to support Ontario hospitals, reads a letter sent to provinces from Ontario Deputy Minister of Health Helen Angus. In response, the Manitoba government said it is evaluating the request to see if, and how, help could be provided, adding officials are already in contact with their counterparts in Ontario. In a statement, a spokesperson for Premier Pallister tells CTV News provincial governments have been working collaboratively throughout the pandemic to help protect the safety of Canadians from COVID-19.
