New South Wales is desperately trying to salvage its Christmas as states and territories rush to impose travel restrictions on Sydney s growing coronavirus threat.
After record testing, 15 new cases were found in the 24 hours to 8pm Sunday bringing the total infected in the latest Northern Beaches outbreak to 83, NSW Health said on Monday.
There are 79 venues listed as of Monday morning where people who were there on the wrong time or day must now get tested and isolate themselves for fear of catching the virus.
Many are pubs and cafes and RSL clubs, restaurants, gyms, nail salons and cafes.
Bunnings at Belrose in Sydney s northern beaches is a new venue on the list. Get tested at if you were there on December 17 from 4pm to 5pm, and isolate yourself

The Victorian Government will today enact new measures to protect our state from the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Based on the most up-to-date information available, the current outbreak in New South Wales is linked to a returned traveler in that state’s Hotel Quarantine program. However, concerningly, there remain missing links in the chains of transmission and case numbers and exposure sites continue to grow.
Without mandatory mask rules and stay at home orders across Sydney, our Government and state’s health authorities do not have confidence that the situation remains safe.
It’s why from 11:59pm tonight, the Greater Sydney area and the Central Coast will be designated as a ‘red zone’. That means people who live in these communities, or have visited these communities since 11 December 2020, cannot enter Victoria. Anyone from this zone found trying to enter Victoria in breach of this order will be subject to 14-day mandatory hotel quarantine.
Queensland and Victoria have introduced tough new restrictions for Sydneysiders less than a week before Christmas.
Anyone who has visited the Greater Sydney region and is planning to cross the border for the holiday break will now have to apply for a permit, get tested on arrival and self isolate until they are given the all-clear.
The strict new measures come after the Northern Beaches outbreak climbed by 23 cases on Saturday, including 10 from yesterday - and as traces of coronavirus were detected in sewage samples on the Gold Coast, Cleveland, Townsville and North Cairns.
Testing revealed 21 cases of those cases are directly linked to the Avalon cluster, while two still remain under investigation. Infections linked to the worrying outbreak have now reached 41.

The Andrews government lost its sixth minister in just nine months on Wednesday with the surprise resignation of Attorney-General Jill Hennessy, who cited family reasons for stepping down from cabinet.
Ms Hennessy s decision is effective immediately with several up-and-coming Labor frontbenchers – including Agriculture Minister Jaclyn Symes, Public Transport Minister Ben Carroll and Women s Minister Gabrielle Williams – potentially ready to step into the sensitive attorney-general portfolio.

The vacant cabinet spot will be filled by a Labor MP from Ms Hennessy’s Socialist Left faction with three women – Harriet Shing from the upper house and lower house MPs Vicki Ward and Mary-Anne Thomas – likely to be in contention.
