Victoria s government has stood by its decision to enact a hard border with New South Wales from 11:59 PM on January 1 despite the likelihood thousands of residents may become stranded.
Acting Premier Jacinta Allan says the government has been sending a very strong message for the best part of the week advising Victorians to consider returning to their home state. We understand there are thousands, possibly tens of thousands, of people who are in NSW, however, we have been sending a very strong message for the best part of a week-and-a-half, 10 days now, advising people to think very carefully about their travel, she said.
