SUMMIT, NJ Joann Campbell, who earned a teaching degree after her husband s passing early in her marriage, passed away peacefully at home on April 10, with her beloved daughter, one of her favorite former hourly caregivers, and her sweet cat by her side.
Campbell was born in Connecticut. She attended public schools in New Haven and went on to earn her BA in Education at Principia College in 1954.
It was at Principia where she met her husband, David Campbell. They married in 1956 and lived in Pennsylvania until their move to Summit in March of 1962. Joann was tragically prematurely predeceased by her husband that year.
The mission of St. Louis newest professional performing arts organization, Prism Theatre Company, is to promote the work of women and emerging artists, on stage and off, through the lens of theatre for the new world. They produce both new and classic works in an atmosphere of inclusivity, where artists from all walks of life can come together to explore our common humanity. Prism is creative collaboration, without the cliques.
To that end, Prism is currently seeking submissions for new plays by women playwrights based in Missouri or Illinois for Spotlight on. Women Writing: Prism s Festival of New Works. Prism is accepting non-musical plays of any length that feature 2 - 15 characters. All submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. CST on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. ALTON More than 45 organizations, businesses and clubs plan to pick up litter in their adopted areas during Alton’s Spring City-Wide Litter Clean-Up this month.
The community is invited to pitch in on the effort to clean up Alton streets. Volunteers can simply pick up litter in their neighborhood and deposit it in their own trash and recycle bins. Bags and gloves provided by Madison County and safety vests provided by Granny’s Uniforms Work Fashions & More will be available all month at Jacoby Arts Center, 627 E. Broadway 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, as well as Maeva’s Coffee at 1320 Milton Road 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
