According to the results, the Liberian people voted massively against the ruling party and rejected the referendum. The election was held on December 8, 2020. The National Elections Commission (NEC), after much litigation, gave the majority of the results of the election. The results show that 10 candidates of the ruling party, the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) lost, and 6 candidates of the Collaborative Political Parties (CPP) won. CPP is a coalition of 4 opposition parties: the Unity Party, the Liberty Party, the Alternative National Congress, and the All Liberian Party. 3 independent candidates won their respective elections.

NEC Wants US$455K to Hold District By-election in Bong County

NEC headquarters in Monrovia The National Elections Commission (NEC) has submitted a budget of US$455,892.12 to the House of Representatives for approval to conduct a by-election in Electorial District #2,  Bong County. In a communication to House Speaker Bhofal Chambers, Cllr. Davidetta Browne-Lansanah, Chairperson of NEC’s Board of Commissioners, said the budget submission follows a communication received from the House of Representatives, dated February 4, 2021, as an official notification of a vacancy created by the election of Rep. Prince K. Moye of District #2, Bong County in compliance with Article 37 of the Constitution.  Article 37 states: “In the event of a vacancy in the Legislature caused by death, resignation, expulsion or otherwise, the presiding officer shall within 30 days notify the Elections Commission thereof.
