Prince Philip has just spent his sixth night in King Edward VII hospital he was admitted as a “precautionary measure” last week after feeling unwell, but reportedly walked into the building unaided and is in good spirits. Concern spread among royal watchers when Prince Charles made the 200-mile journey from his Gloucestershire home to visit his father in hospital, and appeared sombre when he left half an hour later. Philip, 99, has been married to the Queen for 73 years, and is seen as a fundamental part of the Royal Family’s backbone.

Royals fans shared their fears for the Duke s health on Twitter following Prince Charles s visit on Saturday.
Reacting to the news one Twitter user wrote: I hope Prince Philip is alright , followed by a praying emoji.
Another put: Should we read too much into this considering and please correct me if I’m wrong but I thought visitors weren’t allowed.
While a third said they feared the worst, writing: Well that’s not good - cos of Covid aren’t visits banned unless life is coming to end?
Responding to Prince Charles visit, royal author Penny Junor told PA: We do all know he doesn t like fuss, and he would regard a visit as fuss.

“He knows the nation is sending their thoughts and prayers. The Duke has been in HMS Bubble for almost a year so he is used to all kinds of restrictions.
“He has barely been able to see his family for the past year. He knows only too well people have been going through worse than him.”

Prince Philip and the Queen have been self-isolating at Windsor Castle for the most past of 2020 together with a handful of staffers on a strict three-weeks-on, three-weeks-off rota, which has been dubbed HMS Bubble.
