KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 All 268,000 slots for the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines have been taken up in just over three hours after the registration was opened to the public at 12pm today.
“All AZ slots are booked,” Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Khairy Jamaluddin announced on Twitter at about 3.20pm this evening.
Social media was rife with shared complaints of frustrated efforts to get the vaccine earlier, which is on a parallel track, but not part of the main national vaccination programme.

The Royal Sussex County Hospital I WRITE in response to your article in yesterday s Argus regarding that 32,295 outpatient appointments were missed purely because people had failed to show up for them. Sometimes the hospitals themselves will cancel outpatient appointments and then will fail to notify you.This has happened to me in the past when I had to attend the Royal Sussex County hospital in Brighton one time and I wasn t even informed of the cancellation until I got there.

BRUSSELS (AP) - The European Union s executive branch said Monday that it has launched legal action against coronavirus vaccine-maker AstraZeneca for failing to respect the terms of its contract with the 27-nation bloc.
The AstraZeneca vaccine has been central to Europe’s immunization campaign, and a linchpin in the global strategy to get vaccines to poorer countries. But the slow pace of deliveries has frustrated the Europeans and they have held the company responsible for partly delaying their vaccine rollout.
Meanwhile, Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust (Shropcom) faced losing around £260,000 with 1,625 unattended appointments.
Health bosses have urged people to attend their appointments, or let someone know if they need to cancel.
Stacey Keegan, chief nurse and patient safety officer at RJAH, said: “We would like to advise patients that it is important you attend at the date and time you are offered in your appointment letter. If for any reason you find you cannot attend, then please let us know as soon as possible as we may then be able to offer your slot to someone else.
“Over the last 12 months, we have done a large number of appointments over the telephone and virtually but when people need to attend face-to-face appointments, it is safe for them to do so.
