An SANDF member charged with attempted murder after allegedly knowingly and intentionally infecting his partner with HIV will go on trial in June.
It is alleged that the 44-year-old staff sergeant knew about his positive HIV status as far back as 2007 but failed to disclose this to his then partner.
After allegedly having unprotected sex during their relationship, the victim tested positive for HIV in April 2017.

GAUTENG police have made a breakthrough in the case involving 70 hand grenades allegedly stolen from an unmarked army bakkie that was transporting them to the Wallmansthal Military Base near Hammanskraal last month.
Three suspects, aged between 25 and 34 years, were arrested for theft and possession of hand illumination grenades stolen at a petrol station on the N1 freeway in the early hours of July 4.
Police also recovered 11 of the stolen grenades and more arrests were expected. Colonel Lungelo Dlamini of the Gauteng police said yesterday the suspects were arrested in Lyttelton and Sinoville in Pretoria on Tuesday.
A 52-year-old man is expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court facing charges of illegal dealing and possession of drugs worth approximately R1.5 million on Monday, 12 April 2021.
A search and seizure warrant was issued by the court and during execution, police confiscated suspected crystal meth and heroin drugs readily packaged with an estimated street value of R1.5 million and over R10 000-00 in cash.
Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in Pretoria conducted an intelligence-driven operation at Wingate Park in Pretoria East which resulted in the apprehension of the alleged drug dealer.
The suspect was later charged with illegal dealing and possession of drugs. Investigation continues.
She has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
Previously, she was released on R1 000 bail after the State did not oppose her release.
The matter was postponed to 6 May.
Severe assault
Meanwhile, the father of the victim, known as Baby M, was arrested in October last year and was in custody in Kgosi Mampuru II prison until he was granted bail in February 2021.
It is alleged that the 28-year-old man, who also cannot be named to protect the victim s identity, attacked Baby M, as well as the child s mother, during a domestic dispute in their Sunnyside apartment.
Baby M was rushed to hospital.
