Isibaya actress Zinhle Mabena has been released after spending the night at the Pretoria Central police station. The star was expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday but her matter was not on the court roll. The docket was brought to court, the matter was not enrolled due to insufficient evidence and further investigations [are required] Lumka Mahanjana National Prosecutions Authority (NPA) Pretoria spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said the star did not appear in court because her docket was sent back for further investigations. “The docket was brought to court, the matter was not enrolled due to insufficient evidence and further investigations [are required],” Mahanjana said.

Norma Mngoma emotional, feels vindicated by High Court ruling declaring arrest unlawful

Phill Magakoe, Gallo Images Norma Mngoma says she feels vindicated after the High Court found that she had been unlawfully arrested by the Hawks last year. Mngoma was charged with assault and malicious damage to property for allegedly trashing a R3-million Mercedes-Benz during a dispute with her husband. Her lawyer, advocate Dali Mpofu, SC, called for the withdrawal of the charges. Mngoma began using her maiden name shortly after her arrest, however it is not clear whether the couple has officially separated or divorced. Norma Mngoma was emotional as she left the Pretoria Central Magistrate s Court on Friday and said she felt vindicated by a Gauteng High Court ruling that found her arrest by the Hawks unlawful.

Another police officer arrested in connection with R85m supply chain fraud case

Getty Images Another police officer has been arrested and added onto the charge sheet of 44 other people who were arrested in connection with a R85 million police supply chain management fraud case.   Lieutenant-Colonel Jane Mthembu was released on R5 000 bail following her appearance in the  Pretoria Magistrate s Court on Monday.  She is the 45 th person arrested and charged with corruption, fraud, forgery, money laundering and theft in the case.   The case relates to the awarding of [a tender for] the marking and de-marking of SAPS vehicles valued at R56 million and cover quoting valued at R29 million, said Independent Police Investigative Directorate spokesperson Sindiswa Twala.
