Gavin Keith Price appeared at Proserpine Magistrates Court, pleading guilty to drink-driving on Wrights Road, Strathdickie on April 25. The court heard a member of the public contacted police about 9.30pm when they observed Price’s vehicle driving onto private property, before stopping in the middle of the road with its lights turned off. Police attended and observed the vehicle had a flat tyre, and that the driver appeared to be intoxicated. He had a 0.109 blood alcohol content.

Kenneth William Martin appeared at Proserpine Magistrates Court this week, pleading guilty to public nuisance and fail to leave licensed premises charges resulting from offences at Ravenshoe Hotel on April 10. The court heard bar staff stopped serving Martin alcohol when he reached an excessive level of intoxication, after drinking at the venue all afternoon. Instead of going back to his hotel room, Martin went to the pub s upstairs balcony, where he proceeded to drink an entire bottle of alcohol-based hand sanitiser liquid the pub had supplied for patrons use.

Housekeeper pleads guilty to vicious, unprovoked attack

Premium Content Subscriber only A 23-year-old Airlie Beach woman has narrowly avoided a prison sentence after teaming up with her sister in a vicious, totally unprovoked assault at a CBD taxi rank. Asia Marie Otway faced Proserpine Magistrates Court this week, pleading guilty to charges of assaults occasioning bodily harm, commit public nuisance, and common assault, stemming from an incident near Magnums bar in November last year. The court heard Otway attacked a woman lying down on a public bench waiting for a taxi about 12.50am on November 25, leaving her with multiple cuts and abrasions to her face. Without warning, Otway grabbed the woman by the hair, pulled her off the bench, and punched her in the face.

Police make drug arrest, Whitsundays

Date Time Police make drug arrest, Whitsundays Detectives from the Whitsundays Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man following the execution of warrants targeting dangerous drugs. On Thursday, May 6, five search warrants were executed across the Whitsundays division resulting in the seizure of over $43,000, 22kg in cannabis, 41 grams in methamphetamine and 89 grams in cocaine. A 22-year-old Airlie Beach man was arrested and charged with nine offences including two counts of supplying dangerous drugs and one count of trafficking in dangerous drugs. He was also charged with unlawful possession of a category R weapon (conductive energy device) and possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of crime (cash).
