NEWPORT, RI More than 10,000 Rhode Islanders were without power Tuesday evening as scattered, powerful storms made their way across the state.
The fast-moving thunderstorms hit Rhode Island throughout the evening hours, dissipating after 8 p.m. ahead of another hot, humid day Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the entire state, which was in effect until 8 p.m. In addition, a special marine warning was issued for coastal areas of the state as thunderstorms kicked up dangerously high waves.
