(KOLD News 13) - Prom has to be one of the most anticipated events for high school seniors, but due to the pandemic many school districts have had to consider whether or not to hold these events this year. Today, Tucson Unified School District Superintendent Gabriel Trujillo released the district’s Prom Guidelines for the 2020-2021 school year, to ensure that this year’s events across TUSD high schools aren’t only memorable, but safe for everyone as well.

(Pexels) ANN ARBOR – In a recent update, Ann Arbor Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jeanice Kerr Swift announced that the district is moving forward with plans to hold in-person graduation ceremonies this year. Last year, all ceremonies were canceled due to concerns over the then-new coronavirus pandemic and each high school organized drive-thru events and virtual ceremonies for its seniors. North Van teens help organize Canada-wide virtual prom

Bourdon and Carson Graham grad Logan Weidner are two local teens who’ve been working with a group of grads across the country to organize a livestream event on the Student Life Network that grads can tune into to help them mark the significant milestone. The event, Prom Is On, which will stream Friday evening at 5 p.m. will feature a DJ set from Loud Luxury, interspersed with shoutouts from Canadian role models and celebrities like Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, comedian Rick Mercer, Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard and singers Lennon Stella and Johnny Orlando among others. Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.’s medical health officer who has been leading the province through the pandemic, will also make a virtual appearance.

In the five years that have passed, I’ve continued on a journey of self discovery, and I’ve learned to embrace my multiple (sometimes conflicting) identities with pride. In honor of June being pride month, I’d like to share my coming out story in five key moments, all of which happened here in Darien. I hope in sharing my experiences, I may help to broaden our community’s perception of what it could mean to be from Darien.
