The Poundstretcher store in St Neots town centre is set to be reconfigured into shops, and residential and office complex.
Neots Properties Ltd has been given the go-ahead to carry out extensive changes to the building, off Tebbutts Road, by planners at Huntingdonshire District Council.
The firm had applied to sub-divide the ground floor into four new shops, to create 1,200 sq m of office space on the first floor and to replace the existing roof with a new storey containing 10 flats.
In 2018, approval had been given to convert the first floor of the building, latterly a Poundstretcher outlet, into 10 homes.
PINTS may have been pulled for the last time in a Haddington town centre pub. The Gardeners Arms closed nearly three years ago and, with no one coming forward to breathe new life into the pub, it could be transformed into housing. East Lothian Council is weighing up a planning application which would see homes created on each of the building’s three storeys. Agents representing DSI Properties Ltd, which is behind the plans for the building, said that attempts had previously been made to see The Gardeners Arms reopen. They said: “The loss of commercial premises within the main business area of the town is something the authority tries to control; however, even before the current crisis, it is fair to say that the licence trade and in particular small non-food premises have been struggling to survive.
Shriram Properties focuses on affordable and mid-income housing projects, mainly in southern India. It saw sales recover to pre-covid levels in the December quarter.
