Mixed martial artist Conor McGregor topped Forbes Highest-Paid Athletes 2021 list, surpassing Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Forbes reported that it is McGregor s first time at the number one spot and marked his second appearance on the list. In 2018, McGregor ranked number four with a net earning of at least $99 million.

The newly released list covered the athletes earnings from May 2020-May 2021. During the period, McGregor collected a total of $180 million over the last twelve months. Forbes pointed out that most of the MMA fighter s earnings came from his engagement outside the arena, which is the sale of his whiskey brand proper No. Twelve to Proximo Spirits which accounted for more than $150 million.
Former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion and current no. 6 ranked lightweight contender Conor McGregor added yet another victory to his resume.
This victory came from outside of the octagon, as he topped the 2021 issue for Forbes’ list of highest paid athletes.

Conor McGregor has been ranked as Forbes’ highest-paid athlete, beating out competition from the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lewis Hamilton to claim the number one spot.
The majority of his revenue comes from ventures which include an array of endorsement deals.
According to Forbes, the Irish UFC star made a total of $180 million over the last 12 months. Most of the money came from his recent sale of his majority stake in whiskey brand, Proper No. Twelve to Proximo Spirits for $150 million, Talk sport reports.
McGregor also made money from product endorsements after adding DraftKings, the video game Dystopia: Contest of Heroes and the lifestyle brand, Roots of Fight, to his portfolio that has included campaigns with Burger King in the past, and a lucrative deal to wear Monster Energy’s logo on his fight shorts.
