Catwalk star Gigi Hadid celebrates World Keffiyeh Day

DUBAI: Gigi Hadid decided to celebrate her Palestinian roots this week. The half-Arab model took to her Instagram Stories to embrace “World Keffiyeh Day,” an initiative launched by the Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, on May 11, 2016, in an effort to shed light on the ongoing Palestine-Israel conflict.  The premise of the unofficial event is to show solidarity with Palestinians by donning the checkered black-and-white scarf around the neck or head. In honor of the annual day, the catwalk star posted a throwback photo of herself wearing a keffiyeh-style top from Chanel’s 2015 cruise collection, which was staged in Dubai.

On denying the truth of the Armenian Genocide – Mondoweiss

The author’s family visiting the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan, Armenia “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor’s eye!” Matthew 7:5 It was December 2019 and I was driving home from a successful Christmas shopping run when I had to pull off the road and take a moment to collect myself. I had gotten an alert announcing that the US senate had, despite all odds and precedent, passed the Menendez Resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide. Even though the House had passed a resolution six weeks earlier recognizing the systematic mass murder and ethnic cleansing of 1.5 million Armenians by Ottoman Turks as a genocide, almost nothing that passes in the House these days also passes in the Senate. I had not been holding my breath for the recognition to move forward in any way. Learning that the senate passed the resolution, by unanimous consent no less, took my breath away.

A dozen British charities have condemned Boris Johnson for rejecting an International Criminal Court probe into alleged war crimes committed in the occupied Palestinian Territories as “political interference.” The charities have warned that Mr Johnson’s criticism of the investigation sets a dangerous precedent, and the Palestinian mission in London said it undermines British credibilty globally. Mr Johnson said in a recent letter to the Conservative Friends of Israel (CFI) network that the ICC investigation “gives the impression of being a partial and prejudicial attack on a friend and ally of the UK’s”.

University of Toronto s Festering Anti-Semitism

A grave moral failure of which administrators have yet to answer for. Fri Apr 9, 2021 Richard L. Cravatts, Ph.D., a Freedom Center Journalism Fellow in Academic Free Speech and President Emeritus of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East, is the author of Dispatches From the Campus War Against Israel and Jews. In a country where multiculturalism has a reverent following and criticism of protected minorities has essentially been criminalized as “hate speech,” it is more than ironic that on some Canadian campuses radical students have taken it upon themselves to target one group, Jewish students, with a hatred that is nominally forbidden for any others.
