If the remarkable life and times of Kelly Marie Tran were a Disney movie, the opening scene would not spotlight the young, hungry unknown hustling to yet another post-college audition in her Honda Civic, or the multi-hyphenate talent being plucked from relative obscurity to become the most prominent actress of color in a “Star Wars” film. It would not show the swirl of red-carpet events for “The Last Jedi” she posted on social media, or the vile online abuse that followed.

Heather was released the next day, but her parents had to stay. “Dad, I love you,” she told Virgil before she left. “You re gonna be okay.”
Heather touched his hand, promised she’d be back with his hearing aids and a phone charger. By the time she returned his condition had deteriorated. No family members, except for her mom, were allowed in the room.

The San Dieguito High School Academy hosts a virtual forum, “Happy & Healthy, Working From Home,” at 6:30 p.m. March 18, sponsored by the academy and the San Dieguito Alliance for Drug-Free Youth. Proper body mechanics, healthy snacks and lunches, and the importance of creative outlets will be addressed by a physical therapist, SDA students and others who will help set the stage for success.
