Since becoming one of the world s first destinations to open up for tourism, Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, has promoted itself as the ideal pandemic vacation spot. It cannot afford otherwise, analysts say, as the virus shakes the foundations of the city-state s economy.

A one-lane bridge packed with 3000 sheep created a quintessentially Kiwi traffic jam in Central Hawke s Bay on Monday afternoon.
In Patangata there s few motorists in a hurry anyway, but speedy work meant there was no need for ewe-turns as the flock was shifted across Tukituki River bridge on Elsthorpe Rd.

Donald Trump s press secretary has officially packed up her office and left the White House.
Kayleigh McEnany decided not to stick around until the end of term, leaving the nation s capital just days before President-elect Joe Biden is sworn into office.
However, despite her exit from Washington DC, she will continue to hold her role remotely, working from her hometown of Tampa until January 20 when Trump s term ends.

Why is food being supplied at all during council meetings? Councillors and staff are on decent salaries.
What is stopping them from bringing a packed lunch from home like the rest of us?
In my view, it is because it has become a perk of the job.
