The Collectors and Superintendents of Police in the southern districts have jointly announced the plan of action ahead of the stricter restrictions in view of the rising COVID-19 pandemic on Monday.
The State government had imposed night curfew and also total lockdown on Sunday in a bid to contain the spread of the virus, which is gaining fast pace in many districts in Tamil Nadu.
Sivaganga Collector P Madhusudan Reddy and SP M. Rajarajan said that the government had laid certain guidelines for vehicle movement for select categories, including those requiring medical attention and media persons among others.

COVID Care Centres in various areas have been kept ready
Following a rise in the number of COVID-19 positive cases, Collectors in the southern districts conducted meetings with health department officials and a few among them made on-the-spot visits to markets to check for themselves the preparedness and adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures.
Sivaganga Collector P. Madhusudhan Reddy appealed to the residents to wear face masks whenever they stepped out of their dwellings. Presiding over a meeting in the presence of Superintendent of Police M. Rajarajan and other officials here on Friday, he said that the health department would intensify fever camps. Door-to-door checks too would be carried out from Saturday.

The role and responsibilities of medical professionals has become very challenging in the present scenario, said District Collector P. Madhusudhan Reddy here on Friday.
Giving degree certificates to 100 students of the 2015 batch of medicos along with the Karaikudi Alagappa University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rajendran at the Sivaganga Medical College and Hospital, he said that the functions of the medical professionals were highly commendable. They not only risk their own lives and save patients in the COVID-19 pandemic scenario, but also reach out to masses in rural areas, the Collector said.

Minor accident reported at Mudukalathur polling station
Polling in Ramanathapuram district, which was dull in the first two hours with just 5.50% votes having been polled, ended with 69.24% voters having cast their votes at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, District Election Officer and Collector Dinesh Ponraj Oliver said.
Mercury level was high across the district, which has four – Ramanathapuram, Paramakudi, Tiruvadanai and Mudukalathur – Assembly constituencies, that many senior citizens remained indoors. Differently abled persons complained of non-availability of wheelchairs. In some polling stations, police personnel helped differently abled persons reach the booths.
At 7 p.m., Ramanathapuram recorded a polling percentage of 67.51, Paramakudi 70.51, Tiruvadanai 68.72 and Mudukalathur 70.35 officials said.
