Sri Lankan naval vessel handed them over to ICG
The bodies of the four fishermen, who reportedly died after their boat sank when the Sri Lankan Navy tried to apprehend them a few days ago, arrived at Kottaipattinam in Pudukottai district on Saturday.
The fishermen of this hamlet have been alleging that A. Mesiya, 30, V. Nagaraj, 52, N. Samson Darwin, 28, and S. Senthil Kumar, 32, were beaten to death by the Sri Lankan Navy for trespass. They hailed from Ramanathapuram district and set sail on a mechanised boat from the Kottaipattinam jetty on January 18.

Classroom activities were revived for students of X and XII on Tuesday in government and private schools in central districts after the sanitisation of buildings and other preparatory groundwork in the preceding days.
School heads said the campus had to be cleaned up and benches and desks re-arranged. Most of the schools, apparently, chose to keep laboratory activities in abeyance.

Vaccination against COVID-19 got off to a slow start in the central region with frontline healthcare workers administered the vaccines on Saturday.
The first phase of the vaccine roll-out seeks to cover doctors, nurses and paramedical and support staff. In Tiruchi, the vaccination drive started with only four doctors receiving the validation message from CoWin (application developed to manage the drive) at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH). Doctors at the GH attributed the glitches to server overload and said it would be rectified soon.

Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar on Thursday inaugurated a sophisticated Cath Lab set up at a cost of ₹3.5 crore at the Pudukottai Government Medical College Hospital.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the facility, Mr. Vijayabaskar said Cath Labs had been established in 18 Government Medical College Hospitals in the State this year through the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation.
He said angioplasty procedure had been done on a little over 9,000 persons free of cost at the government hospitals so far this year. A network has been created for providing treatment to those with heart-related problems and infrastructure created in the 18 government medical college hospitals in this regard by providing sophisticated equipment.
