Efforts to boost centuries-old traditional occupation of toddy tapping
Around 3.75 crore palm trees, including small and high yielding variety, have been planted across the State as part of concerted efforts to give a fillip to the centuries-old traditional occupation of toddy tapping in Telangana, said Minister for Prohibition and Excise V. Srinivas Goud.
The State government waived the tax on palm trees to the tune of ₹16 crore and embarked on palm sapling plantation drive in mission mode to revive the traditional occupation and uphold its pride, he remarked.

Vehicles equipped with advanced life support systems
Six new ambulances equipped with advanced life support systems, donated by Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao, are set to be deployed in the State-run hospitals in the erstwhile composite Khammam district for providing emergency medicare to the needy.
In a significant gesture of charity, Mr. Rao, TRS floor leader in the Lok Sabha, donated ₹ 1.23 crore in September last year for purchase of six ambulances with state-of-the-art facilities.
The new ambulances were flagged off by Industries and Information Technology Minister K. T. Rama Rao in the presence of Mr. Nageswara Rao, Transport Minister P. Ajay Kumar, and others in Hyderabad on Monday.
It will serve as platform to create a pool of skilled manpower
Marking a significant step towards promotion of technology innovation, the IT Hub Khammam has rolled out an eponymous mobile app to serve as a multi-purpose platform for creating a pool of skilled manpower and help youngsters explore employment as well as entrepreneurial opportunities.
It is the first app to come out of the recently inaugurated IT Hub and was launched by Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar here on Thursday. Its launch coincided with New Year’s Eve ushering in new hopes among youngsters to equip themselves with the requisite skill sets and pursue careers in IT and other sectors.

Hyderabad: Telangana registered 491 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the total caseload to over 2.78 lakh while three fatalities pushed the toll to 1,499.
meanwhile, active coronavirus cases fell below the 5,000 mark to 4,966 in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday even as the state added 506 fresh positives, 613 recoveries and five deaths to its tally.
