Postcode lottery funding helps SpArC in Bishops Castle to cope with Covid impact

A COMMUNITY arts and sport centre in Bishops Castle has had an early Christmas present. SpArC has been awarded a grant from Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. It comes at the end of a year of severe disruption and loss of income because of enforced closures. The venue applied for support in the summer to enable it to run the theatre at a greatly reduced capacity, to comply with social distancing rules during this pandemic. The Theatre recovery Project will run until March 2021. Now the venue aims to have events every week, with a reduced socially distanced audience capacity of around 40, compared with a usual maximum of 140.
