And George Washington crossing the Delaware was an armed terrorist with a party of blood thirsty insurgents.
How odd that this nation was created by action and people who we used to call Patriots but by current standards being used by the media industry and congress members their memory should be erased and stricken from history and labeled as terrorists.
Maybe if Congress got off their self-righteous attitude and their blind self-indulgence on power and money and took the initiative to listen to the American people and began to understand their problems and lack of support from Washington there would not be such a great divide in America.
Bryan County News Americana Corner: The Bill of Rights: The Third Amendment
The Third Amendment: No soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.
This little-known amendment centered on a very important matter to our Founding Fathers, that of the people being forced against their will to house and feed soldiers and bear the costs. While this matter may seem trivial to us today, it was viewed quite differently in 1776.
Requiring citizens to quarter British soldiers in private homes without the owner’s consent had been illegal in England since the English Bill of Rights was enacted in 1689. Since Parliament had never stationed large bodies of troops in America, it was never an issue here.
Repeating Trump’s mistakes?
Sampad Patnaik
The Democratic Party does not appear to have a clear grasp over the nature of the mandate it has won. In a country desperate for economic relief, the Democrats are signalling they may repeat Trump’s cardinal mistake of ignoring promises on the economy and spearheading the intensification of culture wars.
The Trump campaign in 2020 was as culturally toxic as in 2016. The difference lies in his economic agenda during both campaigns. Trump, in 2016, ran on a clear economic populist message breaking with the traditional Republican playbook. He slammed Clinton and Obama trade deals such as the North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), major factors in the immiseration of the manufacturing (rust belt) states that won him the Electoral College.
The initial charges against those few who entered the Capitol during the Trump rally were “entering a restricted building without permission and engaging in disorderly conduct while inside.” This charge does not carry sufficient punishment for the kind of example the Establishment intends to make of Trump supporters.
Michael Sherwin, the acting U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, sees a chance for his 15 minutes of fame. He announced in a press conference that he has built a team of national security attorneys to create sedition and conspiracy charges against Trump “rioters who stormed the Capitol.”
Note that excessive language accompanies excessive charges. Whether those who got into the Capitol were let in or broke in, there was no “storming,” and certainly no conspiracy to commit sedition. Sherwin says that he is “treating this just like a significant international counterterrorism or counterintelligence operation.”
