PERALTA â The Peralta Town Council recently approved an update to its animal control ordinance.Â
Mayor Bryan Olguin says it will help those in the community be more responsible for their pets, and it will fall in line with those of other municipalities in Valencia County.
âI think . we all try to be on the same page. Thereâs not one completely different ordinance from, say, Bosque Farms to Peralta, Los Lunas or the county. We try to work together to have something similar,â Olguin said. âAnd of course . an ordinance thatâs humane towards something that puts the owners responsible for their pets.â
LOS LUNAS â What better way to remember a year like 2020 than with a time capsule?Â
Thatâs what Jubilee Los Lunas, a retirement community near Huning Ranch, did to commemorate a year they say many will remember for a long time to come.
âMany people and myself think that having a time capsule â at least you can reflect on the whole year,â Nick Blea, owner of Jubilee, said. âIâve spent quite a bit of time just thinking about all the different things that happened this year.â
Blea said they chose to bury the time capsule, and open it in 20 years because âthereâs going to still be a few people around then here from Jubilee.â

Best of Valencia County special section.
This year â 2020 â has been especially tough on many businesses and community members. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced businesses to close at times and curtail their services.
Students and teachers are having to learn and teach remotely, and student-athletes may have to wait until spring to start their sports season.
We appreciate our community â more now than ever â for their continued vigilance and support.
