A construction company in Wyoming is running a promotion offering a free AR-15 as a “welcome” gift to customers who buy a new roof.
“People are moving into Wyoming to get out of the cities and to get away from the regulation and to get away from living in fear,” Matt Thomas, marketing director for Wiggins Construction in Powell shared with Cowboy State Daily in a piece published Wednesday.
“We’re just offering it as almost like, for the people that are recently moving to Wyoming as a ‘Welcome to Wyoming’ gift, and for the people that are here, locals, just a ‘thank you’ for doing business,” he added.

State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent coverage:
The Guardian cited a UW study for an article, titled “Fear that Johnson & Johnson pause could heighten vaccine hesitancy in U.S.” The study by UW economists found that, in Wyoming, a distrust of the Biden administration and the Food and Drug Administration were major reasons people cited for waiting to be vaccinated.
UW is preparing to ease some COVID-19 requirements but maintain others this summer as it transitions to a traditional fall 2021 semester. The Casper Star-Tribune (CS-T), The Wyoming Tribune Eagle, Laramie Live and Wyoming News Now published UW’s release noting that masks will no longer be required outdoors on campus early next month. Employees who are fully vaccinated will be allowed to travel with no requirement for COVID-19 testing.

Al Simpson had some strong words for his own party Tuesday morning on KODI’s “Speak Your Piece with Darian Dudrick.”
The former Wyoming U.S. senator was referring to a story in the Powell Tribune about a recent Park County Republican Party meeting. A committeeman was quoted of saying public health officials “need to be fired or executed” over COVID-19 restrictions and face-mask requirements.
“This is absolute nuts. Now if that isn’t hatred, then you tell me what the hell is,” Simpson said. “Who would want to join this (Republican) party? It’s filled with hate. They hate gays. … They hate (President) Biden. They hate (U.S. Rep.) Liz Cheney. Why do you want to join a party that’s just filled with hatred?”
