Mar 3, 2021 MINERAL RIDGE Born in Youngstown, on Nov. 24, 1952, Karla Deborah Boerio Feltner, 68, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, with her loving daughter, Angela,by her side. Karla was the second child of Lawrence Boerio and Nettie Klein Boerio and was raised in Poland from the age of 3. She graduated from Poland Seminary High School in 1972, a proud and dedicated member of the award-winning Poland Seminary High School Concert Band, winners of Ohio State Band Competition’s highest award, a “Number 1” rating in 1972. Karla was most proud of being a part of this rare and prestigious achievement. Karla’s choice of instrument was the sweet sound of the clarinet.

Feb 9, 2021 POLAND Tom Pavlansky will be named the head football coach at Poland Seminary High School, pending approval by the board of education. Pavlansky was the head coach at Lakeview High School and his departure was announced to the team today, Lakeview Superintendent Velina Jo Taylor said. In his 22 years with Lakeview, he notched four conference titles and seven OHSAA playoff appearances. Polandás former head coach, Ryan Williams, stepped down in December. Robert Mike Sherry, 1948-2021 | News, Sports, Jobs

Jan 9, 2021 EAST PALESTINE On Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, Robert “Mike” Sherry, loving son, brother, father, grandfather, companion and friend passed away at the age of 72. He was born Dec. 30, 1948, in Youngstown. He graduated from Poland Seminary High School in 1967. Mike served in the Navy and received three medals includ ing the National Service, Vietnam Service and Vietnam Campaign medals. Later, he began to work at Easco Aluminum and was a member of the United Steelworkers of America. Mike treasured his property and took great pride in entertaining, along with caring for his pond. He loved to fish and was a big Cleveland sports fan. He enjoyed landscaping and going to the movies with his companion, Jan Stamp. Mike and Jan were also members of the Water Walkers at the East Palestine Park Pool. Nothing made Mike happier than spending time with his friends and going to support his grandchildren in all of their activities.
