Calls for clarity on new Blackburn with Darwen Covid ârestrictionsâ The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Coronavirus has called on the Government to provide “urgent clarity” on restrictions in Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley and other areas where the Indian variant is spreading. Official guidance has been updated to advise against all but essential travel in Bedford, Blackburn and Darwen, Bolton, Burnley, Kirklees, Leicester, Hounslow, and North Tyneside, where the variant is growing fastest. The guidance appears to have been changed last week without an official announcement and Layla Moran, who chairs the APPG on Coronavirus, said this risked causing “confusion and uncertainty”.

Cabinet minister: I think June 21 is still very much under consideration
Cabinet minister Therese Coffey said the Government is still working towards lifting all coronavirus restrictions next month, despite issuing fresh guidance to some areas calling on people to limit their interactions in a bid to halt the spread of the Indian variant.
The Work and Pensions Secretary told BBC Radio 4 s Today programme: I think June 21 is still very much under consideration. We are taking a little bit longer to make sure that we have all the data to understand the impact of what has been happening and some of the measures that have been taken and helped by local communities in order to assess whether or not we can proceed.
New guidance appeared on a Government website on Friday without any formal announcement from ministers. People in hotspots including Bolton and Bedford are being advised to stay local .
