These are the 27 East Lancashire drivers fined for speeding on the M65 in the last two months M65 (PIC: Jayne Waring) A total of 73 people have been taken to court in the last two months after they were caught speeding on some of Lancashire s busiest motorways. Of those 73 people, 27 were fined, with many having their licences endorsed with penalty points and some even being disqualified from driving. The offences all relate to speeding on the M65 where the person has driven above the 70mph limit and appeared in court in either May or June. One offence relates to Vivary Way in Colne where the speed limit of 50mph was exceeded.

Handcuffs These people have all been sentenced for violence or threatening behaviour A MAN who racially abused three people in Bury on June 2 has been jailed for 24 weeks by Manchester magistrates. The court heard that Daniel Brearley, aged 35, of Bolton Road, Bury, used threatening behaviour towards his victims and at the time he was already subject to a suspended prison sentence for criminal damage and assault. Brearley pleaded guilty and, in addition to the jail sentence was ordered to pay his victims a total of £300 in compensation. MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to undertake 80 hours of unpaid work after he damaged a woman’s mobile phone and assaulted a police officer on September 10 last year. Karol Wodarczyk, aged 39, of Bolton Road, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offences when he appeared before Manchester magistrates. He was also ordered to participate in 22 days of rehabilitation activities, pay a £95 victim surcharge and £100 in compensation to the woma
