Swearing-In Ceremony Held for New Wausau Fire Chief Robert Barteck

By Liz Holbrook Jul 7, 2021 | 9:27 PM WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Members of both the Wausau and firefighting community gathered Wednesday evening to celebrate a recent appointment. Wausau Fire Chief Robert Barteck was appointed to the role on June 8th, 2021 by a unanimous vote of the City’s Police and Fire Commission. He was then honored with an official Swear-In Ceremony on Wednesday, July 7th at the UWSP Wausau Campus Auditorium. James MacGillis Will Lead Wauwatosa Police Department

MacGillis will be Wauwatosa’s next police chief. The city’s Police & Fire Commission announced the selection Thursday afternoon. MacGillis’ first day on the job will be July 26th. MacGillis retired from MPD in January after more than 25 years with the department. He currently serves as the drug intelligence officer for the North Central High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program. HIDTA is a federally-supported, multi-agency crimefighting effort in which both Milwaukee and Wauwatosa police departments participate.
