Police: Atchison woman accused of hitting man with metal bar

ATCHISON COUNTY Law enrorcement authorities are investigating a woman for a violent attack on a man. Just after 1p.m. Saturday, police responded to a disturbance at a home in the 500 Block of North 9th Street in Atchison, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson. A-47 year old man was struck on the head with a metal bar. He was examined at the scene by EMS but was not transported at that time. Officers took 31-year-old Gabrielle A. Cline into custody on requested charges of aggravated battery as well as criminal damage to a door. A private vehicle later took the victim to the hospital for treatment, according to Wilson.

Shortly after 4p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a disturbance in the 600 block South 5th Street in Atchison involving a subject threatening a 51-year-old victim with a knife, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson. Officers located 51-year-old Kelley J. Rutledge as he ran from the scene. Police took him into custody and he was booked into the Atchison County Jail on requested charges of aggravated assault. Atchison man jailed after man choked, struck in the face

Phillips photo Atchison County ATCHISON COUNTY Law enforcement authorities are investigating an alleged disturbance and have made an arrest. Just after 5:30p.m. May 8, officers investigated an incident that occurred in a residence in the 1000 block North 2nd Street in Atchison, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson.  A group of young men were together in the residence when a disturbance began between two of the men. A 19- year-old man was choked and struck in the face with a fist, according to Wilson. A private vehicle   transported the victim the hospital where he was treated for injuries and released. Police arrested 19-year-old Jackson Phillips of Atchison on requested charges of aggravated battery. He is no longer in custody at the Atchison County Jail, according to online records.

1 killed in Sunday-night shooting at Bessemer convenience store Updated 11:30 PM; A shooting at a Bessemer convenience store Sunday night left one man dead. Bessemer police received a call of shots fired at the Stop N Go on Dartmouth Avenue, said Police Chief Mike Roper. The call came in at 9:54 p.m. and officers were on the scene at 9:55 p.m. As officers approached the store, they saw two vehicles fleeing the scene. Police pursued one of those vehicles and, once they got it stopped, found the victim inside. He was being driven by another male who was trying to get him to the hospital.
