Fiji’s Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu says it is unfortunate that there are still many people who are taking life-saving measures lightly and putting others’ lives at risk.
He made the comment following reports of 67 people being issued with public health infringement notices in the last 24 hours, and most of those cases were of people failing to wear a mask in a public place.
A/CP Tudravu said the Central Division recorded 27 cases, Eastern Division – 12, Southern Division – 10, and 7 in the Western Division.
He said officers from the Police Special Response Unit issued 11 infringement notices for failure to wear a mask in a public place.

The Fiji Police Force will be stepping up on the enforcement of the failure to comply with orders pertaining to health restrictions and officers will be moving around to ensure people are wearing masks in containment or lockdown zones, business operators are complying with restrictions, public service vehicle operators are adhering to the 50% capacity guidelines and the clamping down of social gatherings.
