It was
reported on Sri Lankan media about an incident involving two Muslim youths at Pannala
in Ibbagamuwa, receiving injuries while making what is supposed to be
fireworks. The news also says that the local Police together the Police Special
Task Force are investigating with the assistance of the Government Analyst
Department.
It is very
clear from the description of the incident that the two youths Abdul Muhthalib
Mujibur Rahman and Abdul Muthalib Mohammed Mufsil were making a rudimentary
Pipe Bomb.

Point Pedro (News 1st); Two people were injured after shots were fired by the Police Special Task Force in Point Pedro, Jaffna on Friday (16).
Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said STF personnel had opened fire at a Pick-Up Truck which defied orders to stop at a Police Road-Block.
“This Road-Block was activated to protect a sand deposit located close-by as there were reports of illegal sand mining in the area in question,” he said.
The Pick-Up Truck in question had reached the Road-Block from the area where the sand deposit is located and it was ordered to stop, however, the Pick-Up Truck failed to stop, he said.

Colombo (News 1st); 13 young males who were trapped on a rock surface following rising water levels in the Heen Ganga in Wilgamuwa were rescued following a 07-hour operation.
Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Center for the Matale District Chaminda Amaraweera speaking to News 1st the group had moved to the rock surface as the water level suddenly increased.
Thereafter, personnel from the Divisional Secretariat, Sri Lanka Police, and the Police Special Task Force launched a rescue operation.
