MP SPEAKS | Arrest, detention, investigation and a charge with a fine not exceeding RM100,000 and/or imprisonment not exceeding seven years will be the norm under the Emergency (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases)(Amendment) Ordinance 2021 and not a maximum compound of RM10,000 as misunderstood by many.

The Emergency (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 is creating further confusion to the already confused state of law and regulations which change from day to day with regard to Covid-19. This emergency legislation will take effect on March 11.

1. Singapore police had alerted Bank Negara (BNM) about suspicious transactions from fugitive businessperson Jho Low to a company owned by Zeti Akhtar Aziz s husband and son when she was still the central bank s governor.
2. Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said police were going after drug lords who hid behind their Tan Sri, Datuk Seri and Datuk titles.
3. Police said the RM10,000 fine for SOPs violators, effective on March 11, will only be imposed on individuals who breach the movement control order repeatedly, as well as those who can trigger the spread of Covid-19.

THE Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has not ruled out the possibility that the 15 individuals who are being tracked down by the Thai police following a deadly attack in southern Thailand last Thursday would attempt to enter this country.
Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said PDRM and the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) have enhanced security control at all Malaysia-Thailand borders so as to prepare for any situation.
