Hyderabad: Former Andhra Pradesh minister Bhuma Akhila Priya was on Wednesday arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a former badminton player and his two brothers from here over a land dispute, police said.
A group of around 15 people posing as Income Tax sleuths entered the house of Praveen Rao, a former national badminton player, at Bowenpally on Tuesday night on the pretext of conducting a raid and abducted Praveen and his brothers, sources said.

A group of around 15 people posing as Income Tax sleuths entered the house of PraveenRao, a former national badminton player, at Bowenpally on Tuesday night on the pretext of conducting raid and abducted Praveen and his brothers, sources said. They took them to a farmhouse but later left them at Narsingi after police intensified search to locate them.

Andhra Pradesh’s former minister Bhuma Akhila Priya Reddy and former AP Seeds Corporation chairman AV Subba Reddy were arrested by the Hyderabad police on Wednesday for their involvement in the kidnap of former national hockey player Praveen Rao and his brothers.
While Akhila Priya was taken into custody from her residence at Kukatpally in the wee hours, Subba Reddy a close confidante of former MP Bhuma Nagi Reddy, father of the former, was picked up at Madhapur later in the evening. However, Akhila Priya’s husband Bhargav Ram is at large, Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar said.

For New Year’s eve, police of three commissionerates Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda have announced traffic restrictions in various parts of the city.
Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar said vehicular traffic in and around Tank Bund and Necklace Road will not be allowed from Thursday 10p.m. to Friday 2 a.m.
Vehicles coming from the V.V. Statue towards Necklace Road and NTR Marg will be diverted at the V.V. Statue towards Khairatabad and Raj Bhavan Road, while motorists coming from BRK Bhavan towards NTR Marg will be diverted at Telugu Talli Junction towards Iqbal Minar, Lakdikapul and Ayodhya.
