“What’s that sound?” my family asked on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve as insistent beeps blared from my office.
“The swim alarm!” I said, before bolting from the dinner table and racing to my computer. In pre-pandemic times, such interruptions would have been considered rude, but my family has grown used to my desperation. If I didn’t log on and reserve a spot then, I’d miss my chance to swim in the week to come.
If youâre looking for a distraction from worldly events, or just need something to fill your free time, there are plenty of things happening in the area this week to help you do so. Check out the Funny by Nature Comedy Tour, sign up for the 5K Virtual Run to the Polar Bear Plunge, get the kids involved with some family-friendly fun, or visit a local museum. Thereâs plenty out there and you can find information on these, and more, below.

Luckily, this one s not completely cancelled. South Jersey plungers were bummed to find out that they wouldn t be able to celebrate a special tradition in Wildwood currently going on 15 years. The annual Polar Bear Plunge hosted in Wildwood was pushed back due to COVID-19 which dashed many people s New Year s dreams and plans.
Good news, though! The plunging WILL happen this year.
Wildwood Video Archive has reported that the new dates for Wildwood s Polar Bear Plunge have been confirmed for two months from now. The plunge will happen on March 27th for all who d like to participate. You have to pre-register, though. You can find all of that information HERE.
