I think the real thing we re concerned about a lot of people right now is a resurgence of activity, even while we re still in the second wave, a resurgence of activity due to the new variant strains that appear to be much more transmissible. I know that they re looking at that closely in Newfoundland, even with the testing to see is it one of the variant strains that s causing such a rapid outbreak.

On Sunday afternoon, the Green Valley community celebrated the 104th birthday of Ms. Mary Sheppard Lockett with a drive-by parade of cars.
A line of nearly 40 cars plus Arlington police and fire vehicles drove by her house on S. Kenmore Street, honking and blaring sirens and shouting congratulations.

It was all a surprise for the centenarian, according to Green Valley Civic Association President Portia Clark.
Sheppard Lockett’s son and daughter brought her out on the porch, surprising their 104-year-old mother with a parade dedicated to her.

At one time, Black people weren t allowed to take part in many aspects of the Baptist church and that racism led them to form their own churches, said Rev. Rhonda Britton, pastor of New Horizons Baptist Church in Halifax.
