CAMP ATTERBURY, Ind. Two Wisconsin Army National Guard Soldiers represented Wisconsin at the Region IV Best Warrior Competition held at Camp Atterbury, Ind., May 13-16.
Sgt. Savannah Lipinski, a drill sergeant with the Recruiting and Retention Battalion from Madison, Wisconsin, and Spc. Timothy Hicks, a combat engineer with Company B, 173rd Brigade Engineer Battalion from La Crosse, Wisconsin, competed as Wisconsin’s Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) and Soldier of the Year respectively, falling short of a win at the regional competition.

FORT MCCLELLAN, Ala. - Kentucky Guardsmen, Staff Sgt. James Weitzman and Spc. Dakota Michel, proved their soldiering skills at this year’s Region III Best Warrior Competition May 3-7, hosted at Fort McClellan, Alabama.
During the event, Michel, an infantryman assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 149th Infantry Regiment, made a lasting impression on the judges and earned 1st Runner-Up for Region III BWC Soldier of the Year.
“I am proud of each and every one of you and how you represent our organization,” said Brig. Gen. Haldane Lamberton, Kentucky’s Adjutant General.

On 22 March 2021, Sergeant Major of the Army, Michael A. Grinston, formally announced the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT ) 3.0. This adaptation of the ACFT came into effect on 1 April 2021. It includes six events (Three-Repetition Maximum Deadlift, Standing PowerThrow, Hand-Release Push-Ups, Sprint-Drag-Carry, Leg Tuck or Plank, and Two-Mile Run). Its one significant change is that it adds the Plank as a full 100-point.
